We are looking for a General Manager that loves all things outdoors and also happens to be super organized and we need more mechanics who love to fix things and assist customers in the retail shop. Job descriptions are below.

General Manager

Job Description for General Manager

Big Picture Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service to our community
  • Contribute to our service and relationship oriented work culture
  • Ensure the sales floor is aesthetically pleasing, easy to navigate, and seasonally relevant
  • Improve or create systems that benefit the team and our customers
  • Manage inventory database, year end inventory, pricing/setting up products, updating purchasing databases, and keeping the website up to date. 

Daily Tasks:

  • Make sure customers are well cared for
  • Keep the shop clean and inventory shelves and hooks well stocked (including the bike side). 
  • Complete administrative tasks, such as: checking the mailbox, checking emails, checking Facebook messages, keeping office supplies stocked, grocery shopping, updating the check register and invoice tracking spreadsheet
  • Close camp side POS 
  • Order all inventory, with the exception of bike specific vendors
  • Purchase used gear from walk in traffic
  • Keep part-time staff busy with projects when there is downtime between customers. 

Position Details

  • $15 hourly rate
  • 38-40hr work weeks, with a set schedule
  • 40 hours paid vacation for the 2020 calendar year (Unpaid time off will be given, with appropriate notice.)
  • The following paid holidays, if they fall on your regularly scheduled work day: New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day

  • Shop parties and team trip in October

Skills Needed:

  • Enjoy working with the public and have a high standard for customer service 
  • Extensive time spent in the outdoors participating in or leading outdoor adventures including, but not limited to: car camping, backpacking, hiking, bikepacking, bike commuting, mountain biking, and bike touring
  • Knowledge of most major brands of outdoor recreation equipment, the equipment they offer, and how to use it
  • First hand experience recreating in Michigan
  • Proficient with technology and able to learn new software quickly

 

Bike Mechanic

Job Description for Bike Mechanic

Big Picture Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service to our community
  • Contribute to our service and relationship oriented work culture
  • Repair customer and shop owned bicycles with a high attention to detail and quality

Daily Tasks:

  • Make sure customers are well cared for
  • Repair bicycles as assigned by the Service Manager

Details:

  • The position is guaranteed through August 31, 2020
  • $10 hourly rate
  • 16hr work weeks, with a set schedule
  • Employee discount on all purchases
  • Shop parties and team trip in October

Skills Needed:

  • Enjoy working with the public and have a high standard for customer service 
  • Extensive time spent in the outdoors participating in or leading outdoor adventures including, but not limited to: car camping, backpacking, hiking, bikepacking, bike commuting, mountain biking, and bike touring
  • First hand experience recreating in Michigan
  • Previous experience as a home or paid bicycle mechanic
  • Proficient with technology and able to learn new software quickly
